


The overall tone of this album is positive and cheerful. But are they committed enough to make a dance- pop record or are they still haunted by their alternative rock beginnings ? Some of these switch ups have been immensely successful and helped the artist expand their fanbase but sometimes these artist lose their hard core fans who have been supporting them and their original sound from the start.After flirting with dance pop on Ghost Stories with songs like ‘A Sky Full of Star’, Coldplay is having an all out affair with pop/dance-pop music on ‘A Head Full of Dreams’. Be it Rod Stewart transitioning from Rock to adult contemporary jazz, Lauryn hill switching between singing soulful R&B ballads to spitting a flow like a seasoned MC or with most recent example being ex-country singer Taylor Swift making her sound more pop to cater to the masses. Several musicians and bands have gone on to re-invent their sound throughout their career. Being trapped in a genre and the fear of being type-casted as a one trick pony pushes a musician to experiment with their sound. It’s always been there but maybe because the way the world is it’s been bubbling extra hard, extra-strong, like, ‘OK, this is what we’re supposed to be doing, let’s head this way.Highlights : Hymn for the Weekend, Adventure of a Lifetime, X Marks the Spot This time I’m not even aware of any reaction or any result … nothing, cos I feel a very strong calling to be doing a certain thing.
